Meir!  All I can say is you messed up big time.  Just restore the backup to 
ME and start over again using the data on this 
site:  http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_9xupgrade.asp

The above is a step by step tutorial if you will on upgrading to XP.  Which 
you will see is truly not an upgrade but a clean install.  In the process 
XP will backup your previous version of ME.


Btw, how many hours difference is it from you to me?   It is 9:47 AM here 
currently.
