Eric,
When you say no support, does that mean no windows update support? No technical or phone support? All of these or which ones? If there is absolutely no support for the OEM cds, what good are they. If the OEM builders use them to build my PC, and install software on it with the OEM cd, how would i get support from M$ after i buy a product with their OS. Maybe the builders don't use the OEM cd....these are honest questions, really....

Note with OEM you cannot get support. The OEM version I had to use on my
friends fathers computer (His sons OEM) had PA, which was OK, bought me some
time the next day to get the full retail upgrade product as he would have
lost thousands of dollars without his SoHo PC. All this could have been
solved if the company he bought the PC from was not a pirate shop. I was
going to charge him, but he gave me a ticket to go with his son (my best
friend) to see David Copperfield, then the Red Wings afterwards, and I was
satified and had a great time.
Thank you,

No that's not true. The OEM CD is the same thing as the retail and the both operate the same way. I'm sure they can still be registered the same way as well, although I've never registered an M$ product. -Clint

I've seen places where you can buy "OEM" versions of Windows XP. It says there might not be any manufacturer support. That probably means no windows updates from their update site, I'm guessing. Is this correct? Can a person still register the OEM versions?

You can register it by phone. The wizard will give you a toll-free number to call. You will have to read off a code, then they will give you one back. I have done it once, and the person was nice. All they ask for is your first name to call you by. You can register XP also but is optional and told me several times before asking.
