You can register it by phone. The wizard will give you a toll-free number to call. You will have to read off a code, then they will give you one back. I have done it once, and the person was nice. All they ask for is your first name to call you by. You can register XP also but is optional and told me several times before asking.

What if a person wants to use Windows XP on a computer that won't have access
to the internet? How do you go about "registering" it? Don't you have to
connect to Microsoft via the internet and register the product or it shuts
down in about a month?
