No that's not true. The OEM CD is the same thing as the retail and the both operate the same way. I'm sure they can still be registered the same way as well, although I've never registered an M$ product. -Clint
God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Carnell" I've seen places where you can buy "OEM" versions of Windows XP. It says there might not be any manufacturer support. That probably means no windows updates from their update site, I'm guessing. Is this correct? Can a person still register the OEM versions? Roger ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric C. Vogel" < You can register it by phone. The wizard will give you a toll-free number to call. You will have to read off a code, then they will give you one back. I have done it once, and the person was nice. All they ask for is your first name to call you by. You can register XP also but is optional and told me several times before asking. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roger Carnell" > Hello, > > What if a person wants to use Windows XP on a computer that won't have > access > to the internet?
