Ben, I have an ADSL modem on the Host running Windows 98SE. this computer is connected to a HUB via the uplink port. The two clients running Windows XP are plugged in to the HUB. Both clients can access the internet and share files with the Host. An interesting observation is when I turn on the computer which I use as the main client, a light is shown on the hub indicating a connection. But when the second client is started, no light is shown against it's port. This computer still has internet access. I really don't understand this. Could you shed some light on this?
Alan Priol Alan, I wish you would explain a little how you have your network set up. You have a peer to peer network so there really isn't a primary and clients. I've never heard of linking a computer to a hub on an uplink port. Are you calling the Win98 machine the primary because it is your internet access point? Where is your internet connection? Are all three computers in the same workgroup? Have you assigned IP address to all or have some sort of DHCP running? Have you shared drives or folders on all the machines?
