Ben, please disregard my last message regarding hub lights. I probably have confused you. I know I have confused myself. The HUB has an uplink jack (not being used} and Port1 and the uplink port are really the same port with different pinouts, according to the manual. I am going to try different cable settings and see what happens.
Alan Priol Alan, I wish you would explain a little how you have your network set up. You have a peer to peer network so there really isn't a primary and clients. I've never heard of linking a computer to a hub on an uplink port. Are you calling the Win98 machine the primary because it is your internet access point? Where is your internet connection? Are all three computers in the same workgroup? Have you assigned IP address to all or have some sort of DHCP running? Have you shared drives or folders on all the machines?
