Second sending; I forgot to disguise the "V" word in the first
one.

Dorian, I followed your directions and it seems I have all the
file associations correct. I'm sending you in private a
picture of the Folder Options window to show you the
association, "Extension doc opens with Winword" ... I think
that's what you are saying in your suggestion.

My ISP said it might be my McAfee v*rus scanner stopping the
email documents from opening up and I should call them asking
the how to disable it. Makes no sense to me as I never even
use it; it's not in my Ctrl/Alt/Del list and not in my
msconfig Startup list. They'll say anything they want to sound
knowledgeable.

I reinatalled MSWord and that didn't help. I hope I don't have
to reinstall Windows (I'm good at it but with what's involved,
it's a day's work) ... Harold

I've been thinking..........the problem may be file
association related.

Click on My Computer
Click View from the menu bar
 Click Folder Options.
Select the File Types tab

Scroll the list, and see if you have MSWord 2000 associated
to open a .doc file.........Hope this helps and if this is not
the correct answer someone will correct me. ... Dorian

Hello again ... Windows 98 and MSWord 2000,

Something new is happening. Anyplace in my computer I have no
trouble opening up my MSWord documents. However, when I get a
document attached in email, even when I email one to myself,
when clicking to open it, I get the following message:

"Sorry ... A viewer for this format is not currently
available"

What's happening and why does life always have one problem or
another? ... Harold
