According to your header, you are using Netscape 4.79. I would strongly suggest that you upgrade to NS 7.1 for a number of reasons, one is to get a better association and closer to what is now appearing on the net for web pages. The older Netscape browser is more and more not displaying a web page properly. Graphics misallinged, text crammed to one side, etc. If you do download and install, be sure to install to another folder than your current netscape. This makes maintenence and the like much easier. My netscape 4.77 is in C:\Program Files\Netscape while my NS 7.1 is in C:\Program Files\Netscape7 just for this reason.
Many ISP's will hook their connector program to your default browser and email program and that is what is happening when you click on the rcn.com file. Worldnet does the same thing.
