Hi Clint. Thats all well and good.. for a technical EXPERT like yourself.. ...And I mean that Lovingly.!!!! But for myself.. I have to rely on the expertise of others.. When I was told.. Install ALL critical updates Immediately.. I did as I was told..(good girl here.. LOL)..<smile>
Oh, I DO have XP Professional.. and System Restore. and I have a funny story about that.. I was used to Norton System Works where, when making a "boo boo".. I could do a go-back. to a certain TIME.. an hour before. or whatever, or a day before.. but moreso.. an HOUR. or so before. to when the computer was working - the way I wanted it to... Well, yesterday, while "exploring" all the features of this computer. I clicked on the magnifier..Okay.. Stupid me.. But it was KEWL.. BUT, then when I wanted to get rid of it.. It was a no go..!!! I tried everything from rebooting, to actually turning off the computer.. Finally, in desperation, I called - tech support at Dell.. Got a tech. who took about 5 minutes reading thru materials trying to figure out how to disable the magnifer. and he couldnt do it.. We tried EVERYTHING.. We were at a loss.. Finally, I had no choice, and I did a system restore.. but had to go back to the day before..(no biggie,, I had just run my McAfee.. so after it was restored, ,I ran it again). didnt' even lose any emails.. or anything else. But,, I was so used to Norton, Go-Back(Roxio) that I "thought" I could do the go-back (restore). to an hour before. where I had "magnified this darn machine".. But there's no feature for that. Its for an entire day.. SIGH. So, thats my OOOPS.. of yesterday.. LOL.. and I'm SURE there'll be alot more. BTW.. Is there a feature on this machine.. XP PRO.. that you CAN restore it to an hour before. .Maybe the Dell tech, and myself.. didnt' find it.?? OR.. should I just install the Norton- GO-BACK?? can that even be done?? without installing the Norton System Works? 2003 version.. Just the Go-Back feature of it.?? Any thoughts on that?? Thanks so much.
