I don't think a multi-channel sound card would help. That's just for speaker output.

I know I could get a multichannel sound card, but this problem really has me curious. The sound card is a Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold. I haven't been able to find a pattern that causes the problem but I have an idea it might have something to do with the sound card being accessed at the same time that the hard drive is being accessed.
