Subject: Re: PCWorks: photo imaging question

I don't have a '98 PC handy right now, so going from
memory.....you need to change the file associations and you do
that in "folder options", then I think it's the "file types"
tab. Or sometimes you can right click the file while holding
down the shift key and select "open with....." or "choose
program", something like that. Then you can pick the program
you want to open the file and check the box that states
something like "always use this program to open this type
file". Sometimes that doesn't always work. If you go with the
changing of file associations option, you scroll through the
list to pick the file types, then you have to click some
buttons to change "open with" or something like that. I can't
recall exactly. It may be on the opening window of "file
types" and you'll see the button, or there may be an "edit"
button and you first have to click it in order to change how
the file type opens.

If worse comes to worse, you may have to chose the option in
"folder options" to show file extensions, and rename the file
extensions back to what they were, like if they were images IE
probably opened them previously. If that's the case you may
have do what I mentioned above to once again associate IE with
the opening of images. (.gif, .jpg, .png, whatever).

Any time you install software that comes with a printer,
scanner, or whatever, don't ever pick the "typical"
installation if given the option. Always pick "advanced" or
"custom" so you can stop these "hijackings" of your file types.
Not always, but usually somewhere in those areas you can
associate/DISassociate the software with your current file
types.

Hi Folks..
I have two different photo imaging programs on my p.c.
OS Win 98SE..

1. ACD.. which I want as default to view.
2. U Lead.. which is the one that keeps coming up..

I loaded my scanner software on this week.. and U Lead came
with that program.. so I loaded it too.. thinking I needed it
to
work the scanner..
I tried to remove U Lead..but then the pictures that I had
scanned
would not open..

Can someone tell me how to make the change.. so that
ACD will be the imaging program that I view with..

Hope I am making sense..

Thanks so much for all your help..
Liz
