My friend, your posts are so confusing. ;-) If you're on
digest, just click reply and delete all the things not directly
associated with your posts or that are not associated previous
replies pertaining to your posts. Then copy and paste the
subject line from what you are replying to the subject line of
your new reply and keep the "Re" in the subject line.
"PCworks" is automatically added. It's up to you where you
want your reply to be, either at the top or bottom. Some do it
one way, some do it the other way. If you're going to randomly
paste previous text into the new message body you need to
prefix each PREVIOUS or quoted line with a > or two, or at
least maybe start the old text with {Q} and end the text with a
{/Q}. I wouldn't use [ ] since that's an HTML or BB tag and
some email programs may interpret it as such.

I mentioned in my last post I had no hidden anything in my
Fav's folder, no objects either. Just shortcuts and specific
folders I created.

It's not a moot point as to how your windows are opening
because *I* want to know how they are opening so I can try what
you did. That's why I'm asking if ALL URL's (links in OE,
shortcuts on desktop, fav folders) are ALL opening up TRULY
maximized and not FULL screen. If they ARE and it's ALL URL's,
links, shortcuts, then I'm going to have to try and find a way
to get the IE icon back in the start menu since that's one of
the first things I delete on a PC. It's not needed since it's
on the QL toolbar and I always remove redundant clutter from
the start menu. I tried moving the IE icon from QL to the
Desktop and making sure again it was set to "maximized", then
put it back on the QL, that didn't work. I deleted it again,
then I went into the toolbar properties, customize, and 'add'
to see if it would work if I added the icon back from the
Program Files folder and the IE folder. That didn't work
either. When I click something in my Fav's folder, they still
open up in a small window and best I can get is STILL that
"pseudo maximized" window without using the "AutoSizer"
program, (which makes all IE windows truly maximized).

Hello again,

Clint says (1) ... Harold, you still haven't mentioned if *ALL*
IE windows
are now opening in *TRUE* MAXIMIZED screen. Fav's folder,
desktop shortcuts,
links in OE, etc. - -Clint

Response (1) ... Never ignoring any suggestions you make, I did
go to
Windows\Favorites\ and see no references that you make in your
suggestion.
I'm sure you mean something else, and I needn't tell you to say
what you
mean and mean what you say :)

For *truly* maximized, I just go to View and click "Full
Screen" ...
although THAT maximized makes me nervous (the taskbar becomes a
popup and
the upper right hand corner buttons [they have a name} become
dark) ... but
it sure is maximized.

However, in my trip to that Favorites folder, I noticed
something
interesting: It lists a number of objects and one hidden
objects. After
making all files visible, I see the same number of objects with
no
additional (what was allegedly hidden object). Removing the
"show all files"
and again, the same number of objects with one hidden object
indicated. What
THAT all about? ... Harold

Clint says (2) ... Harold, that is MAXIMIZED, not FULL screen.
Those are two
different things. Remember we discussed this before. "Full
screen" has
neither a toolbar (very tiny one) nor an address bar at the
top. Maximized
is of course the maximize size the window can be while the
toolbar and
address bar are still there, and at the extreme upper right
where you "X"
out of a window; that area will have the "-" minus sign first,
and the "X"
at the far right, but in between them there will be that
**double**
rectangle or **double** square icon indicating it's in
maximized mode. (A
SINGLE square or rectangle in that area means it's not
maximized).

I don't have any hidden files or folders in my Favorites
folder. I'm not
sure what "suggestions I made" you're referring to since I
can't see the
email you're replying to, it's not below.- -Clint

Response (2) ... It's a moot point since the problem (not being
able to open
a maximized window in Explorer from the Quick Launch) was
solved by deleting
the default icon and placing the shortcut from Start menu into
the QL.

It does strike me as strange that the default icon did have the
appearance
of a shortcut (had an option to change icon appearance) but had
no option
"Run" for changing size of window.

Clint ... reason you couldn't see the email you were responding
to was
because it was on top (and it still is). Maybe I shouldn't be
doing this but
it IS a way of responding while keeping the text in an orderly
way (no
zigzag paragraphs like I see in so many responses, including my
own).

An aside; maybe Marlene or one of the more experienced users
might give a
lesson (an undergraduate course, "Newsletter Responding 101"
indicating all
the nuances (possible problems) in responding to postings, and
how to avoid
them.

1. How to respond from individual emails (which doesn't apply
to me)
2. How to respond from the Digest email ... Just click Reply?
How much of
header to keep? How much of footer to keep? Reply on top or
bottom? (I know
we discussed that before). In the subject line, do I keep the
"Re:" or
remove the "Re:"? How to change the Subject line midstream
(like Clint did
before and might have to do again)? And how to avoid those damn
zigzag
paragraphs in the threads? This last problem is not just mine
as I see it in
so many responses.

Of course, to keep this professorship, you'd have to build it
up with more
problems to the point where we couldn't do without this new
"chair"... how
much thread to keep/delete (we could build a whole dissertation
on that
one). Eventually we'd build a school specializing in
"Newsletter Responding"
with it's own football team (to bring in the moolah). Then
after four years,
we just discard those players like all universities do; they
were never
meant to be educated.

Finally, I still have that "hidden object" problem (see fourth
paragraph
above, "However, in my trip to that Favorites folder") ... any
ideas there?
