Hi Roger,
Privacy? What's that?

Privacy:

The quality or condition of being secluded from the presence or view of
others.
The state of being free from unsanctioned intrusion: a person's right to
privacy.
The state of being concealed; secrecy.

Anyone recognize this next paragraph?

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and
effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,
and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or
affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the
persons or things to be seized.

This thread started about spyware and it's unwelcome intrusion in our lives.
In my opinion a program is spyware if you did not give it permission to
send information about you to the mother ship.

Some of us use programs to eliminate spyware and tracking cookies etc. I do,
and I shred all personal information credit card statements and etc. So I
really do care about privacy, don't be too quick to give up our forth
amendment rights they cost too much to gain.

The problem as I see it is that often, we unknowingly give away our right to
privacy. Who among us would think that it's anyone's business knowing so
much about what we do, or say, even what we buy, just because we write a
check, install a piece of software or used a credit card. In my opinion this
does not give them the right to data base my personal information and use
that for any purpose without my consent.

I think I will stop here this subject is getting off topic for this list.
