I personally like XP a LOT and think it has far fewer
problems than lower operating systems. I admit I don't use
automatic updating on ANYthing, including AV or trojan
protection programming. I manually check each and every day
when I want to do it. I do not like "multi-tasking" by an
auto-updater going on when I am doing something else.

How do you mean auto-updating wiped out a hard drive? There
would be a swelling of news in all the trade ezines if that
were occurring.

Most here would/should be doing regular backups, I do one
every six hours, and while it would be a pain in the butt,
if I had to restore, I'd restore.
