Further to the Apropose problem. A search of "apropos" (without the "E") found this page http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner/library/apropos/ind ex.phtml Which gives explicit manual removal instructions. There seems to be quite a few entries that must be deleted from the registry. PLEASE do a back up if you go with this method. The instructions are given by the author of BazookaT Adware and Spyware Scanner. He has a free download available at the site as well. I do not have any experience with this program, so I can't comment on it's effectiveness. Looks like you have quite a challenge on your hands, and I don't envy you. I just cleaned my 70-something mom's computer of scads of spyware...she just doesn't get "safe surfing", and likes to download all the so-called Free games, and programs and such. At least I finally got her to stop using Gator! :-). The really bad part is she goes to all these "free" ecard and funny pages, and sends them to MY email address. And I wonder why I get so much SPAM :-)The one thing I've learned on the Internet. There are very few things that are TRULY free anymore. Just like any other area of life!

As for apropose, not too much info out there that I found..but try these links http://computercops.biz/postp51516.html and http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,9313031~mode=flat . At least you'll know you're not alone :-), and they do offer a few suggestions. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I've had it three times now in the past month. How do I get rid of it? I sign onto AOL and before I can do anything I get an error message called: Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Error. Inside the window is a red circle with a large white X in it. Next to that it says, Runtime Error! Below that it says, "Program C:\programfiles\americaonline8.0\waol.exe Below that is: Abnormal program termination. Below that is an "OK" button. When I click it (I can't do anything else, the cursor becomes a circle with a slash through it when I move it anywhere else on the screen), it shuts off AOL and I have to start it up all over again. While I've got you, does anyone know anything about Apropose? Everytime I get off line and run a spyware scan it ALWAYS picks up Apropose. I block it and then delete it and the next time I get off line, there it is again. How do I get rid of this permanently? I didn't have it a few weeks ago. Where is it coming from?
