If you want to retain the vector art of the graphic, just place the PDF
page and crop out what you don't need. Depending on how it was made, and
what you want to copy from it, open it in illustrator or photoshop, then
work with the pieces you wish to use.

Not all PDFs will open and view in illustrator correctly, but you can
give it a shot.
