I think the printing path of Acrobat 6.0.1 in Panther (raster CUPS printer) is the same as prepress applications (Photoshop, FreeHand, Illustrator, Quark, etc.) in Jaguar, i.e.

No, that is not correct.

Acrobat 6.0.1 uses a NEW API call in Panther to be able PS directly into the print stream for it to work on all printers in a more compatible way than previous versions.

Acrobat 6.0 and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite (can't speak for other applications) will check if the printer is PS and if so, send PS - otherwise it pre-rasterizes the data and sends a raster image to the printer.

This is the /var/log/cups/error_log. The printing is from Acrobat Professional 6.0.1 and Panther 10.3.3

Seems to me that Acrobat 6.0.1 put pictwps on the queue, just like Photoshop on Jaguar.
What NEW API do you means?

Thanks

Mauro
