Well, if it's not too tricky to look up exactly which pdfedit version
configured, built and installed itself properly (even though it
crashed a bit), then I'll try to build THAT one. My first impulse,
when I saw what was going on, was to back up a single version, and see
if THAT went through the build cleanly--but perhaps I should have gone
back in time longer.

If I am able to build PDFEDIT version 0.3.*, and NOT 0.4.5, under
cygwin 1.7.7, then at least we'll have some clue as to what went
amiss.

I guess what I'll do next is download the tarball of the version YOU
built successfully--without changing cygwin--and see if THAT goes
through okay. If not, then I'm not sure I'm up to taking down cygwin
as well and installing an earlier version: at that point, I'm going
to give up--I've spent too much time on this already, and have work to
get done, which is why I wanted to give pdfedit a try in the first
place!

But I'm definitely willing to back up to an earlier version that DOES
build, to help identify what is wrong for the project--if it is
something inherently wrong in the packaging, and not some stupid
peculiarity of my own Windoze installation.
