I agree with this.  I asked my rather innocent questions, having owned a 2nd
generation Mavica for several years now.  The 640 * 480 resolution was
obsolete from  almost the time I purchased it.  While it's nice for quick,
don't want to lose it, or don't want to scan it shots, the results are far
from film quality.  Actually I got one real nice shot of a lone canoer on a
lake in the fog (almost everything the same color). I purchased a now
obsolete 1024 * 768 resolution Mavica for my Dad, and same thing.  In only 2
years it now lags behind current consumer models with only about a 3rd of
the resolution.

I know this question has been asked over & over again on the list, but I
can't remember the answer... Is there any comparison between present day
film resolution & CCD pixel count?  By this I mean, at what density of
pixels will a CCD image = film in ability to resolve a scene?
