Forgot this part folks...

Look closely at the clips from both fully visible sides ( no strap loop
pivot). Several layers of material. Upper plastic, lower plastic, and
some inner layers of steel. The middle layer is solid on one side of the
clip, split like a c-clip on the other. With a preferrably wooden cuticle
stick, a popsicle stick, or a plastic flat bladed electronics
screwdriver, push hard on the split side while keeping all tension and
weight off the clip itself. It will push in, and that will release the
clip. With some wiggling sometimes until you get used to it.

What you are doing is aligning two holes in the bottom and center plate.
When locked, the holes are out of alignment enough so the mushroom head
of the strap lug cannot get free.

The early LX neck strap has steel strap adjustors that you can use the
corner of to accomplish this. But I use my fingernail, 'cause they are
strong and don't crush easily, and don't mar the body if i slip, like
steel tends to do. But it's too hard for many to do that way without
serious nose picker damage.
