Hi Alan and all,

While the PDML is the great resource for me, I also belong to a certain
Pentax circle in Japan. Over the years, I learned a lot from these groups
and came to the same conclusion that William did.
There is no question that Nikon is a great system and some of their lenses
are superb. There is nothing to badmouth about the one or the other.
But it is apparent to me that people in the know or those who have a lot of
photographic experiences truly appreciate some, if not all, of the Pentax
lenses. People who have been using the Pentax lenses for a long time very
rarely convert to Nikon, not so much because of any kind of difference in
catalogue performance. But those two lenses are different. Nikon lenses
tend to be too crisp but Pentax ones are for better overall rendering
including better bokeh etc. They are said to be more in line with Zeiss and
Leica rendition.
And of course Pentax star lenses are really excellent.
When I realized this, suddenly the camera bodies became least important to
me. And Pentax produce some very good bodies with well-thought out handling
without blindly following robocamera fad. They may have some areas to catch
up, but that is not because they do not have the technological ability to do
so, but because of some other consideration which we really do not know and
some people complain about.
There is some controversy about the price setting of the MZ-S, but let's see
what price Pentax come up with. I am fairly confident that the camera is
competitively priced, as the history proved that Pentax never overpriced
their camera bodies in the past.

Cheers,

Ken
