I understand your feeling, Evan. Its price is quite high. I was lucky enough to find someone selling the lens plus others (50/1.2 & 85/2) at a pawn shop whose buyer was too busy to give attention to the seller. I made a nice deal with the seller outside the shop. This is mere luck. On eBay you may find an EX- lens for around 200$ if you wait and wait... I was offered this lens 20 years ago when I was a poor student and of course declined the offer even if the price was "normal" back then (about 180 US). All those years I was hoping for another close encounter...

You say you might go for a 28mm, but maybe you should opt for a 24mm? They are more expensive than a 28mm but an Ex- lens would probably be around 150$ or even less. I would even consider a lens that has some slight coating marks or a tiny scratch somewhere (but not right in the center as at f/11 or f/16 it could possibly begin to have a hard-to-see effect on some pictures if you look very hard...). It would likely be around 100$.

And all Pentax 24mm lenses are excellent. Also a 24mm lens would be used more often than a 20mm I guess.

Ughh. That's more than all my other lenses put together. Maybe I'll settle
for a M28 or an A28 instead. You know somehow I wound up with three 50s for
two bodies, I guess you can never have too much of a good thing.

 $300. $250 would be a bargain.
