how to get into the setup utility you will find this either under advanced or hard
ware options, (or something similar). If USB is disabled when you enable it and
reboot you computer WinME should, (and should is the operant word), recognize new
hardware and install the native drivers for it. Then plugging in a USB device will
enable the native drivers for that device if it is supported.

Okay, got a Canon Powershot A60 mainly for taking pictures of stuff to sell
on ebay. I mean for higher mp I am waiting for a DSLR (probably the *istD). I
got this as a toy for fun and for what I said above. (Over time going to try to
weed out some of the old junk around here, selling some of it.)
Also got a Memorex flash card reader (works with both I & II, this digicam uses 1).
Have Windows ME.
Neither card reader (both can use USB 1 version whatever, which I have) or
plugging camera directly into slot -- work. Says I am missing some DLLs. My ME
came installed on the computer. While I have some reset-up disks, I really have
no readable ME disks. (All the files on the disks have to be "built" during
set-up, i.e., I can't search the disks and find an already built DLL.)
If one doesn't buy support from MS one can basically only access their web pages.
I'll probably solve this one. But I expect it to be long and tedious. (And I wanna see the pics I've already shot on the Powershot! :-( -- at the recent NorCal PDML meet -- see them bigger than the review shows. Web page 'em and print 'em.)
Unless someone has a suggestion that will drastically cut down my research, web page browsing, and fixing time.
Not really expecting one, but on this list, hey, you never know. ;-)
