Thanks - that's just solved my problem with a Hama USB 2.0 Pocketdrive 6-in-1. I have Windows XP running on an Intel motherboard, and before adding the powered hub, the machine could get as far as seeing the "disk drives", but complained of i/o errors on trying to read them.
