Well my winder works like Lon said. Serial No. 129xxxx. Like the cameras themselves I think the newer winders have a lower serial number range than the earlier one.

I have three of MX's all early versions with the metal film reminder frame. There
must a difference in the winders. The documentation I have shows that the winders
always turn on the meter weather the winder is on or not. Both winders I own exhibit
this behavior. You wouldn't happen to know when your winder was made, (early or late).
I'd really want one, (hell, I want one for each of my MX's), that works the way yours does!

Nope. I did a test before I posted. This is what happens
in my hands with my equipment. That's my story and I'm
sticking with it. BTW, the MX used was the older (metal
film holder) version.....

AFIK the behavior you describe is correct. Lon is wrong.

Here's how the MX winder works with my MXen:
a) Winder off, camera off: no metering when winder release is pressed.
b) Winder off, camera on: no metering when winder release is pressed.
c) Winder on, camera off: metering when winder release pressed.
d) Winder on, camera on: metering when winder release is pressed.
Ideally, only d) would activate the meter.
Moral to this story: turn winder and camera off when storing.

So work my Winder ME-II with the SuperA (Super Programm).
But the MX metering when winder release is pressed in all a,b,c,d setings!!, and the same for an other French Pentaxiste.
Theres is various relaese off Winder MX ??
