I have never had problems with dust on my film; I do have problems with dust on the sensor. The D requires a higher standard of cleanliness and care.
The MZ-S battery-vertical-grip thingie is a true joy. The D extra battery vertical grip thingie feels like it was thrown together as an afterthought (slight exaggeration). And the D vertical grip does not mimic the Green Button which is needed for manual shooting with non-A lenses. The slanted top and the positioning of the shutter release on the MZ-S are much more to my liking. So I would give the MZ-S the victory with respect to feel and sensual appeal.

I agree with the others on most points. One difference is that the AF
system D has cross sensors and the MZ-S doesn't, particularly the
central one. I tend to use the single central sensor setting, but have
found I have to tilt the MZ-S to get a lock sometimes. As noted on this
list, the D flash exposure works best when the ISO is set to 400.
