And the PZ-1p has the two-wheel control, like the *ist D, that allows aperture control from the body, so it can operate even FA-J lenses in all modes. For depth-of-field preview on the PZ-1p, however, you do need a lens with an aperture ring.

Thank you very much Rob, John and Steve
I still can't make up my mind, choosing between the two. I'd really like to
have both. Then I wouldn't need other bodies, except maby for backup.

Need? _Need_!? What is this strange word?

Seriously, though - the *ist-D and the MZ-S do cover most bases (although
you're possibly going to be out of luck with lenses in the future; should
Pentax release something nice in the FA-J line you'd have problems on the
MZ-S). I still keep the PZ-1p around, too - although the autofocus isn't
anywhere near as good as that on the MZ-S the faster film advance is nice
to have on occasion, and since I don't have the newer flash the PZ-1p can
do everything the MZ-S does with the FTZ-500 and a bit more.
