I believe people think Pentax (and Minolta) are P&S cameras. Some easy to
use camera for the pocket or the bag - to bring to the party or the beach -
even on hollidays. And perhaps a few enthusiast cameras - typically with a
Sigma lens - that some people by as their first time, entry level camera.
Next time most people prefere a Nikon, Canon or maybe even an Olympus. The
ones that pros and serious photographers use. A few people will buy an
odd-ball camera like a Leica or a Contax. In my local camera club, they
didn't even know Pentax made a DSLR! They all use Nikon and Canon cameras. I
have heard of one person who has a Pentax *ist D, but I have never even seen
one in real life, not even in a store. In Copenhagen lives 1.8 million
people. This is not my opinion - but what I believe is the public opinion
about Pentax.

And I can only imagine everything has changed (for the worse) since the
digital era.
