My name is Denis and I used to belong to this list
years ago when I was a Pentax K-mount user. Started
with a K1000, then some Spotmatics, an MX (never
should have let that one go), then some Nik** stuff,
some TLR's, 4x5 Crown Graphics...now, I am using a
small Can** set up. Yesterday, I came full circle.
At my local flea market, I found a grungy old K1000
with an SMC-M 50mm f2 lens for $45CDN. Cleaned up
nicely. Cleaned up very nicely. Mechanically, it
seems to be working just fine. Shutter speeds, film
advance...but it has 2 flaws. It is missing the cover
for the frame advance which is not really a problem.
Secondly, it is missing the battery cover. There's a
gentleman that sells cameras at this flea market and
he let me try the meter using a battery and cover from
one of his K1000s. The meter seemed to work just
fine. So, all I need is a battery cover and a battery
(which does the K1000 require?) and I will again
become a proud K-mount user. Anyone out there know
where I can procure one of these without paying lots
of dollars? Thanks.
