I think you make a good point about a contest making people nervous. Any form of "test" seems to do that, and any contest is a form of test.
Personally, I think of PAW and PESO differently than I do the PUG. The PUG seems more of an photo "exhibit" and the others more of a request for comment/suggestion. It might help if this thinking (or whatever the general consensus is)was helped along by PDML members interested in reviving the PUG. Perhaps it would make the PUG stand out a little more and draw more attention to it. OTOH if a little competition *WAS* wanted an anonymous vote could be taken each month and the winner would have his entry featured in the next months PUG as "Most popular pic of last month". The only real rule being that one person could only win that place once or twice per year. Another point to ponder is that I knew about the PUG long prior to joining PDML from seeing it on Boz's site. However, I tend to forget all about it until I see it mentioned in this list. Perhaps others forget or don't know of it, maybe a regular post to this list once a week or so would keep attention a little more focused on the PUG. Just my 1.5 cents worth.
