Since the intial post is well-known, I am going to skip (most of) it.
I remember when I joined the list about 2 years ago... The discussion of photography as such as I recall it was close to nil. Eventually I started submitting to PUG and some time, perhaps a year ago there was an initiative to do comprehensive PUG reviews. And thne came Shel with his idea of PAW.
In my opinion, competition might ruin the whole fun here. Notice, that here on PDML one can post a picture either to PUG (with restrictions) or to PAW (virtually no restrictions) and obtain honest and *really* constructive feedback. This is something that it is *extremely* difficult to find on the net.
It works and let us not touch it or modify it so that it will keep working.
Bruce, at al, I think that we're experiencing just a stage of natural growth of PAW and/or PUG. I don't think we need any modification.
What comes to mind though <g>, is that we might want to allocate a certain week of the month (say the first one) to PUG discussion only. Anyone posting PAWs during that week may get response close to none.
