The confusion was also aided by the fact that elm, by default, doesn't include an attribution line to identify the original poster on a reply, even on a reply to a mailing list. I've now found out how to make it do so (as the first line above shows), so with any luck there will be rather less of this particular kind of confusion engendered by my posts.
