If you are citing the over-sharpened eye section that you presented the other
day as proof of the *ist D capabilities then I'm far from surprised that no one
had anything definite or positive to say. Gauging your example against the
results that I can produce now I would not have been happy with your result and
I don't think it was of any value trying to guess what camera lens combination
lead to the creation of the image.
For myself, I base the image quality on what comes off the end of my printer at work, not what shows up as objectionable "artifacts" when the image is blown up to 27x41 inches on a computer monitor.
Consequently, I find the whole exercise of looking at 100% blow ups and then bitching about a bit of stair stepping a little less than silly.
If I can't see a problem in the print, the problem effectively doesn't exist.
