Subject: RE: Pentax Z-1

Trevor,

I have the PZ-1p, esentially round 2 of the PZ-1 (Z-1 in your case).
Many
have dislliked this model.

I, for one, loved it. Ergonomics were right for me. It blows the other

models you mentioned out of the water. The hyper-program mode was right
up
my alley. Comparisons have been done between the Z-1 and similarly
spec'd
Nikons at the time. I was interested in the N8008s at the time. The
Z-1/Z-1p blew them out of the water when one considers it could be
purchased
for about 1/2 what Nikon was asking and included an on-camera flash.

A Pentax produced battery grip was not available.

Unfortunately, now that I have the *ist D, my poor PZ-1p sits for months
on
end without use until I feed it a roll from time to time. It now feels
largish when compared to the *ist D.

If you wanted an AF film camera, you got a good one. Metering was
always
great and AF performed up to my expectations.

Tom C.
