The key is that both CF and SD cards are re-usable and will probably outlast any camera's expected shutter cycle by an order of magnitude. Buy as much as you need, and keep using it.


File system: FAT32 is here for the foreseeable future.
File formats: PEF files from both the DS and the D are convertible to DNG format. Even if Pentax were to kill all software that could use them, converting them to the DNG format will ensure they are usable for the foreseeable future. I expect this format will be around long after Adobe, Apple and Microsoft croak: it is a published format.
