DOF appears to be extremely limited. Is it wide open? Also seems to be lacking in contrast. Very flat.

Ok, I messed up, It was shot in Medium-sized, fine-quality jpeg because I was shooting my daughter's swim meet and, since the photos were only going
to be used in the end-of-the-season power-point presentation, and not
processed by me, I shoot them in jpeg format and a smaller size to make life
easier for the poor parent that puts together the presentation... phew.
