I think you'll find it's interface to be exactly what you expect.
Shutter speed dial, you set aperture on the lens, every major
function has it's own switch which can be turned off if you don't want
to use it. Except for the automatic film rewind it's the
closest thing you'll find to a classic camera interface in a "modern"
all electronic film camera.

Well, the MZ-5/5n/3 has other strong points, like its
brilliant user interface, and metring system, as you
will see.
I am afraid that the MZ-3 AF system will be just
identical, but not really sure.
Regarding DSLRs, Carlos, my fellow Spanish PDMLer, has
just bought a Ds and, when I asked him for its AF
behaviour, he told me that it was better than the MZ-5
one, but not in pair with the MZ-S one. He currently
owns or previously owned these cameras.
