i'm not selling any of my Pentax equipment to finance whatever i get because i don't need to. i just won't use it as much because it isn't able to do the job that i need from a camera system. meeting 80% of my needs isn't good enough. Pentax glass is still better and there are plenty of times where more than 6MP and high frame rate aren't needed, or i need a smaller body. all of my equipment is in excellent condition or better except my MX and its M50/1.7. i've had it since the camera came out and was in very good condition until i sent it in for a CLA and it came back dented.

Pentax hasn't demonstrated that it knows one of the simplest business rules, make sure you know who your loved ones are (core market) protect that market. Pentax ought to be making a camera that sells to Pentax enthusiasts who have been buying lots of those lenses that we all like to talk about here. they make a lot of money from each one of us because we buy accessories and lenses where we care about quality and are willing to pay a little more. introducing cheap bodies that appeal to first time buyers of SLRs is well and good, but when that alienates the current users, that's bad.

No one is saying "Pentax is doomed". That seems to be the words that some seem to be trying to stick in some of our mouths.

What's being said, is that Pentax is not inspiring confidence, by their past actions, perceived misdirection, and lack of information regarding future plans, that they will produce the products we desire. Add to that, the 'gloomy' financial aspect, and some people (like myself) question whether we want to stay with Pentax. Others think there's no issues and we have only to wait and see.
