[3rd party talk]

I have Tamron 80-200/2.8 and 24/2.5 adaptall-2 lenses. I have aquired both
of them used. There are similarities to there build qualities, both being
MF:s from the same era. Hate to say it, but the zoom seems to have
problem with focusing to infinity. Sometimes the focus ring seems to run a
bit short before the moon for example is in focus. Unmounting and mounting
the adaptall-adapter usually helps, but there might be an other
explanation for this phenomena.
There is propably one lensgroup a bit loose inside the lens, because one
can hear and feel a clunk while shaking the lens with force. Id be glad
to hear reports whether other owners of this lens have similar
experiences. There is a slight chance that the loose part isnt part of
the optics.
The other problem might be the adaptall mount. The lens is so heavy the
"double mount" might have loosened under the pressure.

Other notes on the 80-200/2.8. Lost of metal, lots of glass, heavy, firm,
sturdy, etc. Its a one touch zoom with almost no loose in the ring. Its
almost like handling military equipment. It has a totally different kind
of a feel than my one touch SMC-M 80-200/4.5 which operates very smoothly.
The glass of the 80-200/2.8 was supposed to be clean when I bougth it,
but what do you know, looking through the glass there was the biggest spec
Id ever seen :( I didnt care to return the lens because of its rarity
(at least in Finland) and great optics, so guess Im going to send it for
a cleaning/repair soon. Propably bought it a bit overpriced at 400
dollars.

The 24/2.5 has the same solid feel to it. It has some vignetting wide
open, but improves at F:8. No problems focusing with this one. This one
was a cheapo, 80 bucks.

And yes, I also have a Vivitar MF 400/5.6. I wouldnt recommend it, the
build quality just isnt good enough. I tends to generate some loose in
the middle of the lens no matter how gentle you are with it.
