My homeland, Slovakia, is certainly not big country, not even moderately sized I would say. You can drive through entire country in just about 5-6 hours. And this is the longer dimension. ;-) As you said, we are renting a car (from Alamo - I have no experience regarding rent-a-car business so I hope it's a reliable company). I will certainly welcome any suggestions for our itinerary - on my trips I often found less known (among tourists) places that turned out to unforgettable experience. Cheers, Bedo. =========== Okay, I'll try to draft a rough itinerary this weekend. Places I have been to anyway. I haven't been to the Southwest for sometime, so I am not sure if I can tell you how many hours on the road, where to break for the night and all that. But I can tell you some of what is worth seeing. In some cases things are near each other and you can hit up more than one in a day. In other cases there is a lot of driving in between. May take you most of the day just to get there. I'll write you off-list in about a week. Now, in all honesty, I am likely to forget. So if you haven't gotten good enough suggestions from others, and still want my input, write me off list and remind me. I really suggest you do a lot of google searching and find the tourism page for each state. Each state usually has a lot of tourism information. Yosemite, for instance, unless you book a year ahead, you cannot find a place to stay overnight in the valley. All you can do is drive through. Most of the other places, you can find places to stay. But motel rooms are a lot more expensive than they used to be. You will be traveling off-season though (re our summer vacations), so it shouldn't be too bad. I suggest you google for pages like this: http://www.arizonaguide.com/home.asp HTH, Marnie aka Doe
