Please see my last post, all this K/M degradation is UNNECESSARY. Yes we could be arguing the merits of doing what they did or how good or bad or not bad it is if they had to do this for some new feature BUT THERE ISNT ONE.
That's the alarming part of it all, there isnt something new or valuable that's causing a compatiblity issue at all, this lack of support its just Pentax "pulling the plug" as far as they could on older lenses without any new compatability issues whatsoever...IMHO - Its Pentax way of forcing the older lenses less usable than new ones to make you want to buy new ones. That really sucks anyway you look at it. They cant seem to make the new lenses better, so they make the old ones you already bought worse than when you bought them. That's really sleazy way of doing business & this is what I think this scheme is really all about. I havent seen anything to suggest otherwise and that's quite unfortunate...At this point I don't think I would make any large value new pentax lens purchases because I wouldn't be surprised if they start electronic date stamping and "de-activate or degrade" your product at any time they feel because this is essenially what they are doing now with the K/M deal in a roundabout way... JCO -----Original Message----- From: David Savage [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The "green" & AE button stop down metering solution is in no way perfect, but it does work. And the thing is, even with the loss of meter sensitivity caused by stop down metering, with digital, you can check the exposure results. And if they're off, make adjustments accordingly. Hell I do this with my A & FA lenses all the time. Now I ask you. Have you actually taken a D/DS fitted with a K or M lens fitted and tried it out in the field, gone back to your computer and looked at the results? Your blowing this lack of full compatibility out of proportion. The lenses still gather light & they still render an image FULL STOP It could be worse. Pentax could have completely redesigned the lens mount. Dave
