Yes, that happens with my NiMH batteries also. Sometimes, the gauge goes
back up a notch for awhile. This usually happens if you drain it to "half",
then turn the power off for a few minutes, and turn it back on again. When
you turn it back on, the meter will often show a full charge. This is one
of the most disappointing aspects of the battery meter. It constantly
wanders up and down the scale.
Still, it's much better than no battery meter at all. After you use the
camera for awhile, you tend to get the feel of how much and when to trust
the battery meter.
