It's not enough volume to be significant. Lithium-Ion batteries need
logic anyway to help keep them from exploding in chargers. (BTW, any
laptop's battery today will have similar logic in it to enable such
accurate tracking of charge state.)
Well, the plan here is to have backups ready from the get-go, and
replace
them when they show half-full (as soon as convenient). Hopefully,
I won't
end up finding out how many shots I can take when the indicator says
"empty" - finding "n" would require "n+1" attempts - <g>.
Unless you are working in critical situations where every shot
counts, a) always have a backup set in your camera bag (I use NiMH in
the camera and keep a set of CRV3 Lithiums in the bag for backup ...
Lithiums have awesome shelf life) and b) run them until the camera
stops functioning, then swap them out for fresh ones. Otherwise,
you'll be throwing away a huge amount of useful life.
BTW: I take AA lithiums out of the camera and stick them in my
wireless mouse, usually get two/three months more service out of them.
