Heh, I'll probably keep mine in the kit even when I get a DSLR.
The only issues I've seen with it are a bit of flare in bright light
(lots of pieces of glass in that thar lens), and a hood that bites the
big wonder weenie.

I'd probably get something like an FA-J 18-35 to match with it on a
DSLR, and start from there...
