The announcement reads, to me, like Pentax will be providing Samsung with camera engineering assistance. Maybe Samsung will be providing Pentax with electronic engineering assistance. It does not sound like a merger, or even joint marketing. However, time will tell.

'Samsung announces agreement with Pentax to co-operate and jointly
develop new digital camera products. This will broaden the product range
to offer consumers greater choice'.

Great news! Now the future of DSLRs with K-mount is much brighter, althought not every of these products would carry Pentax logo! Samsung is now powerful
company - both economic and marketing wise!

The Pentax trademark is worth a lot more than Samsung in this market so my bet is that they keep using it both on the cameras and on the lenses.

The announcement reads like Pentax will be second fiddle.
