Wal-Mart isn't practicing censorship, that's for the government,
Wal-Mart practices prudery...

Sorry Butch, I'm not getting at you personally. I deplore censorship in
any form.
This past weekend I conducted a two-day workshop in my studio. Most
of the photographers were shooting digital, but some were shooting
film. I had arranged with the local pro lab to provide processing, but
at the last minute their C-41 machine broke down and couldn't be fixed
on the weekend. I told the photographers to try the local Wal-Mart,
which does pretty good quality and quickly. They processed the film
but then refused to print the pictures because some of the shots
showed our models bare-breasted. I was completely floored by this
insanity! The photographers who shot film had to wait until they got
home to get their negatives printed.
We're talking professional models over 21 years of age and fine art
nude type images. I was demonstrating a variety of lighting setups,
and wanted the photographers to look at their images as we progressed
in the workshop.
There are not many things that I consider pure evil, but censorship is
definitely one of them.
Some day I'll tell you guys about the time a printer refused to print
one issue of a photo magazine I was working for because we had an
article on nude photography in it. Talk about a bunch of small-minded
idiots!
