The stereotype of projection to which I refer signs with "All the best!" following his attempted eviscerations of other folks and their countries. Does the irony escape you?

---------------------------------------------------------------
The US is not the largest of countries, but it does have nearly 300 million people. Tens of thousands of communities are home to these people. Out of this number, some will misuse others as it happens in ALL communities of men. In this country, the press is absolutely free, in that they may publish ANYTHING, even secrets of the state, if they get them without themselves breaking the law (thievery, bribery, etc.), without fear prosecution by the government. The only thing that keeps all the press in line, is if what they publish damages someone in some way AND it isn't true (and it is the press that must prove that it is). Then they become libel to prosecution by damaged people parties for slander - which can cost them dearly. Some, the more reputable, are also kept in line by for fear of loosing their reputation and with it their reader base, and because of it their advertising base, and ultimately their revenue. Still, news that all is well doesn't sell either. Therefore, the saying has come about, "If it bleeds, it leads!" The news may be generally accurate, but it's only the sensational, the unusual that makes it to print (or the air, if you prefer). Mature people know this and realize that most of what they read, though true, is not representative but a rare aberration. Those who do not realize this are abysmally poor at risk assessment.

This means that abuse of people, including photographers, is exceedingly rare.

---------------------------------------------------------------
I do a lot of technical photography as it is helpful (though not absolutely necessary) to my profession. I have literally thousands of photographs of towers and monopoles with antennas, buildings with antennas (visible or invisible), schools with antennas, refineries with antennas, bridges with antennas, military installations with antennas. Often the equipment I use might look strange and intimidating to folks outside my profession. I use laser rangefinders and inclinometers and antennas that, frankly, look like the launch tube for a small rocket attached to equipment that only a few hundred people in the country have ever seen. While doing this, I've been approached by the curious, the suspicious and (occasionally) the law. A friendly chat and the explanation that the equipment renders all women within 100 yards slaves to passion has always sufficed and I've never been mistreated or intimidated.

For all your continual whining about my country, there are literally millions from all over the world standing in line, waiting their turn to come here to live - and we are all the richer for them. We even have millions who risk their lives to come here every year. By comparison, emigration is a trickle even though it's very easy. You simply leave. Well, these folks who come from all over might simply be ignorant, or deceived to want to come to such a dangerous place, eh. Certainly they do not possess your intellect or your ability to judge nations, eh?

We are perhaps not the best country in the world, but our country is the best for us. We are not a perfect country, but this country is sufficient for us. We have not in our past nor do not now embody perfectly all our ideals, but still we retain these ideals and continually strive for them. We are a nation of humans and we have strive for noble hearts, but we are a nation of humans so we sometimes stumble. We are a nation on a journey, a journey who's destination is and will always be just over the next horizon. When we really think about it, we wouldn't have it any other way. I hope you feel this way about your nation.

You used to make me angry Raimo, but not for some time now. You are certainly bright, but you are also ignorant, judgmental and bigoted. This is sad.

OK, show me your stereotype of projection.
I have been to the US and would like to come again - but I would like to be able to take photographs and I´m afraid that some would be improper. Bails are too high for me.
All the best!

Yup. We have plenty room for one more if you want to visit.

Show me a man who calls others hypocrites, and I'll show you the stereotype of projection.

Regards,
