Here's some heartening advice. I'm the world's most impatient and

managed to pull the back off the 85 mil and re-assemble it (after
Dremelling off the aperture lever of course). If I can do it, you can.
I know exactly how it reassembles, it's just that I've somehow
managed to get the aperture ring stuck in a weird position (it moved
there during disassembly). I have all the screws etc laid out on a
piece of paper and I know exactly where everything goes. I'd have
posted a photo but all I have is my crappy Palm camera. I really
should move into this new-fangled digital age sometime.
Thanks to all for the advice... I'll have another go at it later. I
just wish I could see into the various slots a bit better... I keep
thinking I can shove a sliver of metal somewhere to nudge something
out of the way, then it'll all work again.
I'm not sure if I'll try it today as it's hot, dry and very windy.
Not good conditions for getting annoyed... the lens might end up
going through a window :)
