If the K100D is put together like the *istDS/DL, I'd take it ANY day over the Rebel XT. I felt like just holding the Rebel XT would squish the plastic on the camera. Not a very comforting feeling. I have not looked through the viewfinder on a K100D, but once again, if it's anything like the DS and DL, you will be MUCH better off manually focusing with it than the Rebel XT. I tried manually focusing a Rebel XT with the kit lens in normal indoor light, and the screen was just too small and dark to be able to see if I really was in focus. Using an *istDL side by side with it, with the kit lens, I had no problems at all. It was like night and day. Your A35-105/3.5 should work flawlessly on the K100D, even to the point of doing matrix metering, as should the A70-210/4. You won't get as large/bright a screen as in your ME Super, but it's probably as close as you can come in a DSLR at this point. Plus, there's the shake reduction. I'd get the K100D just for that. The IS Canon lenses are all significantly more expensive than the Pentax equivalents, and you're paying for it in every lens. The Rebel XT will get you a slightly larger shooting buffer, slightly more pixels (8MP vs 6MP), and CF cards instead of SD (I think of that as a disadvantage, but I like SD cards). Personally, I'm still debating a used *istDS/DS2 right now, or saving up, and going whole hog for a K10D when it gets released. I WILL be using my A35-105/3.5 with it, and I WILL be manually focusing. It's all a matter of the other lenses that will go with it. And even with buying a DA16-45, and a 100-300/4, it would still come out cheaper than a Rebel XT with the equivalent lenses. -Mat -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
