Ann, It's been my experience that once you get USB working with Win98se 
you shouldn't screw with it. Unfortunately I don't have a good solution 
for you.  Last time this happened to personally I had to build a new 
Win98 machine from scratch, well no new hardware but a fresh start with 
a clean installation and re-installing all the software.  It's also true 
that some of the smaller useful tools I was using at the time were never 
re-installed.  I got them from somewhere on the Internet and could never 
find them again.
